1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) when you visit a website. They serve a variety of purposes: some are essential for pages to work correctly, others help remember your preferences, and some allow the site owner to understand how readers interact with content.

Cookies do not contain executable code. They cannot access other files on your device. They are associated with the domain that set them and cannot be read by other websites.

2. How Bolen Letters Uses Cookies

The Bolen Letters website uses cookies for the following purposes:

  • To remember your cookie consent choices so that the consent banner does not appear on every page visit.
  • To support basic site functionality that requires session state.
  • Where you have given consent, to collect anonymised data about how readers navigate the site, so that editorial content can be improved.

Bolen Letters does not use cookies to build advertising profiles, to track you across other websites, or to sell data to third parties.

4. Third-Party Cookies

Some pages on bolen.info include embedded content from third-party services. These services may set their own cookies when you interact with their embedded content. Bolen Letters does not control these cookies and recommends reviewing the privacy documentation of those services directly.

  • Google Maps (contact page): An embedded map is present on the contact page. Google may set cookies if you interact with the map. See Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
  • Font providers: Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. These requests may result in a technical log entry at Google's servers, though no persistent cookie is typically set by the font service itself.

5. Managing Your Cookie Preferences

You can adjust your cookie preferences at any time by clicking "Cookie Settings" in the site footer. The consent banner will reappear and allow you to change your selection.

You may also manage cookies through your browser. Most browsers allow you to view, delete, and block cookies. Instructions vary by browser:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data.
  • Firefox: Preferences → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data.

6. Opt-Out Options

If you have accepted analytics cookies and wish to withdraw that consent, you may do so in two ways:

  • Use the Cookie Settings link in the footer to reopen the consent banner and select "Essential Only".
  • Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, which prevents data from being sent to Google Analytics regardless of consent settings.

Withdrawing consent for analytics cookies does not affect the functioning of the site. Essential cookies remain in place to support basic navigation.
